I love clothes, purses, accessory items, but most of all, I love shoes. So much so I'm learning how to make them myself. To me they're not just something you wear to protect your feet, but they're a means of self-expression, and can so easily turn something drab into something beautiful (you thought I was going to say fab didn't you?).
If you don't like shoes, then this blog is not for you. Because all I'm going to talk about is the gorgeous pieces of art that adorn our feet.

Shoe of the Day- I AM SPARTICUS!!!
This summers shoe craze is the gladiator sandal. Not necessarily one of my favorite trends- I don't find them all that comfortable, and there's very few that I've found that I find attractive. I like my summer shoes to be as bare as possible- flip flops, barely there strappy sandals, and the like. Gladiator sandals are just so constricting to me, I feel like my feet can't breathe in the majority of them, like these:
Nike Gladiator Mid Black Anthracite
First of all, what the heck? Nike making gladiator sandals? I can handle brown leather sandals, and even the metallic ones aren't that bad. But this to me is just tacky looking. However, everyone who's ordered them on zappos.com has given them rave reviews for comfort and style unless you have wide or extra long feet. Available in 4 different colors at $80. Personally not for me, but to each his own. Opinions anyone?

Shoe of the Day- On Pointe?
The first time I saw these shoes I was floored. They're so completely bizarre, impractical, odds are extremely painful, and yet...something about them is just so awesome. This particular pair was created by Devious Shoes and was found at Pinupshoes.com. Available in red, white, or black patent leather, and can be purchased as lace up shoes or with a single strap across the top of the foot. For about $90, these shoes are not for the faint of heart or weak ankles- if you're not comfortable in 7.5 inch heels, do not attempt to walk in these without assistance or you may wind up in a wheel chair or crutches!
Style Profile- The Flip Flop
Ah the flip flop. One of the most versatile, easy shoes in existence. They could be as simple as a rubber thong flip flop at $2 a pair, or intricately made in expensive leather with hand beading on the thong straps for well over $100. It is my opinion that no summer wardrobe is complete without this easy going shoe, and because of the wide ranges of styles, colors and materials used to make them they can perfectly fit into any budget. Here are a few of my favorites:
The basic, cheapo flip flop. The best price (outside of going to the dollar store) at $4.50 a pair, but on sale now for $3.50 a pair and available in 6 different colors.
The basic flip flop with a little twist. Straps are made of soft leather, wrapped around a metal ring and stitched to the insole. Outsole is made of EVA for extra comfort. Available in 3 different colors at zappos.com for $28.95
This is a winner when it comes to comfort! Soft suede insole, straps lined with soft sheepskin combined with a super lightweight EVA outsole make this a great shoe, however due to the materials used is most likely not suitable for use around water. Found at zappos.com (can you tell this is my favorite store?) an available in 6 different colors. And although they are a little on the pricier side at $50 a pop, considering the materials used it's not that bad of a price.
One of the fancier flips flops found at endless.com, these shoes are absolutely stunning! Available in 4 different colors, features a multi-layered bracelet style cuff, sequined thong straps and an easy zip in heel, these are definitely great for dressing up any outfit for summer! A splurge $99.95, but offered at endless.com for $74.96, which is still a decent chunk of change- but who can resist something so pretty?

The First Shoe of the Day!
Todays shoe of the day focus' on price- as in how high can you go? Apparently $3,000,000 is the going price for these bad boys:
Upon first glance you wonder what's so special about these heels? Simple open toed stiletto, not the nicest color (what can I say, I'm not a fan of brown satin), and there's some weird, messy fabric cluster in the center of the vamp. However, looking closer shows where the real cost of the shoe comes in. The shoes (designed by Stuart Weitzman) were designed around a pair of earrings owned by 1940's movie star Rita Hayworth, and includes clusters of rubies, sapphires, and diamonds. So while the shoes themselves, in my opinion, may not be that attractive, I can definitely see how it's centerpiece would jack up the price.

My one true love...
Ok, kind of sad I know. But I love shoes. Everything about them is beautiful to me. The colors, fabrics, structures...even looking at mens shoes and seeing the detail that goes into them amazes me! I have my own collection of 75 pairs (after getting rid of a few). Some may ask why a girl needs 75 pairs of shoes-I say why not?
I'm going to post a shoe of the day from here on out- it could be something normal, funky, cute, or just plain outrageous. Along with where you can purchase it and, of course, my take on it.
